OBITUARY NOTICE OFFREDERICK II. RODERICKFrederick Hindman Roderick was born in Pennsylvania March 6. 1843, and wont with liis parent to Durand, 111., when a child of two years. Here he grew to manhood, and when a young man heard the call to come to the defense of his country. He became a member of 12th Illinois Cavalry, uiul was discharged from service at Springfield, Sept. 29, 186G.The family afterward cao-e to Fayette county, Iowa, and lived on a farm between Fayette and Arlington. Twenty-^evon years ago they came to make their homo in Fayette. Here mother, stater, and father passed away: hiB father after reaching the extreme age o* more than ninety-four. Frederick wan thus left nlr ne, aa a brother, the only other member of the family, had died in the army.Mr. Roderick's health has been failing for some time, and his laat days have been spent in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Reed, who had at one time also resided with him j.1 hia own home in the northeast part of town, near the creamery. From them he received watchful care and attention. His death occurred in the early morning hours', Wednesday, Aug. 27.His early religious training was in the Preabyterlaji church. Ho expressed satisfaction’with the divine will, and said ha was ready to go if it was the purpose of his Maker to call him homo.He was of a qulot and unobtrusivo disposition and reserved manner, bat of pronounced integrity and moral principle, interested In things good and Worthy.A cousin, George Roderick Shorb, of Durand, 111., who had been here but a few days ago to visit him, had returned home, but came again and was the only relative attending the funeral which was held at the homo of Mr. Reed Thursday aftonuon, conducted by Rev. D. M. Parker. Singing was by Mr. and Mrs, Hettlnr. MoBsrs. Laltmer, Bronn, Killorlain, CroBs, Burkholder and Waste worn pall-beur-ers. Interment wau in Giv.ndvlew.
