SANFORD WAS PITCHING ACE OF ‘THE OCCASION—AIR TIGHT s SUPPORT. Bode’s 1920 ° baseball team reor ganized for a few games of baseball this fall, and took Humboldt on for a Practice game. Bode was a little sur prised to find themselves unable to score on pitcher Sanford. The Bode team was much the same as last year's crack nine that won over everything it met during the year. Joe Hanson worked in the box, 0. Sorlien was behind the bat. Qually was at first, Ed Opheim at second, Arne Sorlien at third, and Leo Sor len at short. The outfeld was com posed of Dodge, Skaugatad and Oscar Sorllen. The Humboldt line-up consisted of Foster, Fraser, Burtla, Underberg, Firkins, Smith, Worthington, Nelson and Sanford. We do not have a tabulated score, Humboldt scored twice in the sec ond inning and one in the fourth in ning. She added three more in the ninth. Bede never got a man past second, though Arne Sorllen was killed ,try ing to make third on a passed ball. The game was errorless up to the eighth inning, and then the bobblea did not effect the scoring. The Bede boys put up a sterling brand of ball. After the game mem bers of the Bode team complimented Sanford on the game he pitched. They stated frankly that his work was far superior to what they had ex pected. Humboldt did not score on Joe Hannon any more than he ex pected to be scored on. Hig pass fall s to score on Sanford upset’ the OPO. The following day the Bode ‘team met the salaried West Bend team and shutt out the hot game,Arne Lor ie worked: in. the: by the “ota!
