Stackhouse is back from a six weeks visit to his uncle in New York. While there he took a course of treatment at Bryant's school for stammering, which resulted in a cure. Perkins, of Scranton, Pa., who came to Marion several weeks ago to accept the superin tendey of the Marion Water Light and Power Company, was joined here by his wife and son last Fri day. They are at Mrs. Ida Price’s for the present. Mr. J.E. Rilerbe brought the first bale of new cotton, to this market last Wednesday and sold it to Mr. L. M. Gasque, buyer for Johnson Co., Raleigh,N. C., at 12 cents per pound. ‘The bale weighed 792 pounds, therefore bringing Mr. Elerbe * $950. Since then cotton has been com ing in every day and selling for, very good prices. Dr. D. F. Miles and Mr. W. G. Mullins returned last Taoureday from a week's stay at Rhone’s. While there they spent most of a time hunting with friends. Tn many of the schools already visited School Improvement Reso nations have been organized and organized and plans formed for getting new libraries, better build ings, as for carrying on general work in developing school inter est. Naturally where there is al ready indifference in school mat ters very little can be done, but wherever there is in a community any enthusiasm for educational work it has not been difficult to find a place for 9 School Improve ment Association—and, better still, there is the once that these organizations will be perma nent, working each year for the scouting of, improvement off build ings and grounds. At Page’s Mill and Mt. Andrew educational values will be held, the one at Page’s Mill as soon as the new building is ready for use. Other new buildings already be gun or planned will be at Fork, Kemper, and Bermuda. The asso ciation at Pee Dee will interest it sel mainly io a library and the iprovement of school grounds.
