rived in Pioclie vn Wednesday, the following particulars in rogard to the killing at the above named ranch on the 3d of August. The trouble originated over a game of poker, between J. Centers and 0. Ellis, and tho amount disputed over was 81.50. During the game Centers grabbed up about 815 of (Jordon EUis' money, who asked him for it, but he claimed that Ellis owed him the $1.50, and said that be would return the 815 when he was paid the money due him. The following testimony of P. H. Cled-horn was given in the case, at tho inquest organized and held over the body of Cordon Ellis by the persons then at the ranch: J. Centers and O. EUis was atEllis' wagon. Mr. Centers walked awtv from deceased, who then drew his pistol.1 heard Centers say. you are too much of a gentleman to shoot me when I am unarmed.'’ Ellis then fired and shot Centers through the leg. Ellis still followed Centers, with his pistol cocked, and said he would shoot him agaiu. Centers then armed himself and then went back near where the trouble began. Ellis was then leading a horse up to his wagon: Centers then took airn at him. Upon EUis turning and seoing Centers, lie threw his hand hack of him, as if after his pistol, then Centers fired ami shot Ellis, the ball taking effect in the right chest, and Ellis then got behing his wagon. I did not see Ellin any more until after one or two shots had been tired by him, one of which took effect in Centers other leg. 1 saw him after he fell.’' J. Blackwell testified to the above facts also. The Coroner’s •fury rendered a verdict to the effect that Centers actod in self-defence. There had l«en aoino slight trouble a while before this difficulty and the best of feeling did not exist between tho two men.VVii.u Leave.—Mr. and Mrs. Ceo. T.
