Courtesy photoWitch trials in ExeterThe Exeter Public library will host the unique production, by the Delvena Theatre Company, of ‘‘The Trial of Susannah Martin” and Scary Stories of the Salem Witch Trials. The production is an entertaining and educational live theatre production, which addresses the Salem Witch Trials. “The Trial of Susannah Martin” is the story of a 71-year-old well-to-do landowner’s trial after she was accused of witchcraft by one of her neighbors. The setting is in Salem, Mass., in 1692, a year in which approximately 500 men and women were accused of practicing witchcraft, of which 20 were executed Scary Stories of the Salem Witch Trials encompasses factual and exciting stories of the witch trials including the trials of Sara Goode and George Jacobs. The target audience for the production is age 10 to adult.If the audience is open to interactive theatre, the actors will accommodate in the way of small roles and a more active trial. A “question and answer” period will follow after the completion of the performance. The stage for the reenactment of the witch trials will be set in the Exeter Pubiic Library Meeting Room on Thursday.
