Motiva givesdonation forPAPD K-9’sPORT ARTHUR - Motiva Enterprises, a Port Arthur refinery, recently donated $7,500 to the Port Arthur Police Department/Field Operations Division. The financial assistance was used for the purchase of additional K-9 dogs.The K-9's and their police partners Were trained with a variety of skills such as drug detection and tracking. The dogs will also assist the officers in the field enhancing the detection of an individual(s) hiding in hard-to-reach areas and tracking capabilities in the event of lost children.Sue Parsley, community relations manager for Motiva, said, Motiva is committed to help our law enforcers in their efforts in reducing drug and crime in our communities. We feel it is a means of adding quality of life for our neighbors.The K-9 program will continue the drug education for students and children in the many local school districts in our surrounding cities and county. Officers are frequently asked to go to schools with these presentations on the danger of drugs. The students are thrilled to learn about the tasks of the dogs and watch demonstrations.
