MURDER CASE INQUESTGeneral Opinion Is That Man Was Not Drowned— Bridge Tender Ly-saight's Story. He Saw Hourher and the Mtranger tud Also Heard .Watertoae t’rlee. The coroner s inquest in the supposed murder case of the man who was found dead in the i’aw Paw river several days ago was resumed in Justice St. Clair's court Monday morning.Dr. Tutton testified to having examined the body on August 20 at Crystal Springs cemetery. Uia opinion was that death did not result entirely from drowning, although the body was so decomposed that the post mortem was somewhat unsatisfactory. In stating the cause of death, Dr. Tutton said either an injury or loss of consciousness from other causes preceded or immediately followed the falling of the body into the water. The doctor also stated that in case of drowning the body is greatly bloated and the time of corning to the surface average^ in warm weather from five to six days in fresh water.Richard Lysaight, the highway bridge tender, was on the stand and he said that on the night of August 16th, the night before the dead man was found in the river, he saw (George Boucher leading the man across the bridge The man was the same one that was pulled out of the water dead. Lysaight positively identified the deceased as Boucher s companion. On that night Lysaight spoke to Boucher, who said nothing and urged his companion across the bridge toward Benton Harbor. Soon after the bridge tender heard unearthly yells in the direction where Boucher and the old man had gone. Boucher carried a huge stick and a smail satchel when Lysaight saw him only 12 or 15 feet distant.Dr. Ryno testified to the condition of the body on August ?lt;. He said tne right lung was examined, the lower lobe being soHd and the upper tilled with air. He stated that on a section of a drowned person s lung is found bloody, frothy mucus and in this case none wa6 found. A little serum was discovered in the lung. The doctor said it was impossible to swear that the deceased came to his death by drowning on account of the decomposed condition of the body at the time of the post mortem. After Dr. Ryno. Leorge Brown testified. He was working on the bridge on the night fefore the ghastly find and corroborates Lysaght s story.William Fuller testified to discovering the body in the river.
