Mr. linker was ijuiio aged, and on attempting to idled his escape from the hou'v, with two of his grand children in lus arms, and while crossing the yard, he was shot down. Marly the next morning a H j party of volunteers Irmn iSaii J*edro, went to the place, and found Mr. linker, lying dead, also one of the children, I lie other was lying asleep on his arm unhurt. Mr. Maker’s wife, was the third pe son killed. The others made their escape to a stockade about a mile and a half distant. Two of them, daughters of Air. Baker, were badly wounded. Mr. Baker’s house was burnt to the ground.Another party also made their appearance 60iJ)o days since near the Apalachicola river, whore a family named Kmvan, resided. They met a negro, belonging to Mr. Kowan, and cn. (juired of him, for his master; on being answered that he was at home, they immediately pursued their wuy towards the house ; tho negro, taking ‘another and nearer direction, and on arriving at 1 the house, told his master the Indians were coming. and had enquired for hint ; Mr. Kowan immediately put his family on hoard a canoe, and pushed across tho river—ho had just crossed, when the Indians made their appearance at the house and hailed him ; he held some conversation with them, they being disappointed at the negro's giving inhumation of their approach, iired the house.We also learn, that I wo houses on the Apalachicola river, have been burnt \ %’ Indians.■ *j Col.
