; Mokena Fireman Invite : Public To Open HousemsThe Mokena Fire Protection District will have an open house this Saturday, Nov. 2 at the fire station on Front st. The hours ’ will be from 2 to 8 p.m. and all residents of the district are invited to attend and become acquainted with the men and the ^ equipment.Firemen will be on duty to answer question and show the £ visitors about. The public .will 2 thus gain first hand knowledge 2 of the department’s resources.The Mokena deDartment ismade up of volunteers. They drill, practice and fight fires without pay.In a recent poster contest which drew entries from St. Mary’s and the public schools, the following youngsters were the winners.Grade 1, 2 and 3; Julie Ennis 1st place and Kristine Rauch, 2 nd place, Grades 4, 5 and 6, Debra Fortman, lstplace; Billie Jean Best, 2nd place: Grades 7 and 8, Maureen Carlson, 1st place and Annette Stuckey, 2nd place.
