James, President of tlie Southeast Saskatchewan Branch of the On-To-The- | A Bay Association of Canada, who recently returned to Regina from a trip to Port Nelson on Hudson’s Bay.Mr. James left Regina, July 20, and joined. O. I). Hill, Melfqrt, the President of the northern section, of the association. J. A. -Campbell, commissioner for Northern Manitoba, and Charles Campbell, a mining engineer, at The Pas. From The Pas the party inspected-.the mining district of that country, visiting the Rex, Bingo, Wek- j usko and other well known mines.From The Pas the party travelled by gas car^over the H.B.R. to Rettle Rapids and at this point' the Campbell brothers returned south. Canoes were used for the journey from Kettle Rapids to Port Nelson arid nearly three days werg required to make the^ e trip of about 120 :rniles. At all points along the ro.ute Mi*. Starting from Port Nelson in company with an old settler in tlie district, Mr. Raines walked for milesalong the .grade toward Kettle Rapids and he stated that the grade was notin. as poor shape as had been reported.The party spent three days in Port Nelson examining the work already accomplished^on -he road and getting information on the condition of the counti'y. Hundreds of‘white whales were seen in the bay by members oL: the party and they gTva. an idea of the enormous fishery lesources.
