OSCAR HARMS, OF THIS CITY WAS ONE OF CHIEF STOCKHOLD ERS IN COMPANY. ASSIGNMENT OF PROPERTY The firm of Oscar Harms and Com pany, which has been operating a gen eral store at Clifford, in Bartholomew county, for three years, made a vol untary assignment Tuesday. Oscar L. Harms, of this city who operates a grocery in North Harrison street, was one of the members of the firm. Other members of the firm are Charles Harms, William E. Harms, and James W. Hayworth, all of Bar tholomew county. Mr. Hayworth, who is a brother-in-law of Mr. Harms, has been managing the store until recent ly, when he took a position at In dianapolis. The Union Trust Company at Co lumbus was appointed trustee to take charge of the property. The assets of the company are said to be worth about $6,000, with labilities in excess of $7,500. Mismanagement, extension of too much credit, and a decrease in the values of merchandise bought at “peak prices were given as the causes of the failure. The assets in clude accounts to the amount of $750; three lots and the store building at Clifford; a stock of goods valued at $1,500; a delivery truck valued at $250; a Ford automobile worth $25; money on hand $5 and money in the bank $2.79. The First National Bank at Columbus holds a mortgage for $2, 000 against the business. The other ealief creditors are wholesale firms from whom goods were bought.
