Among.tke «iays is tlie name of John Q. Adams.We liavo taken these facts in relation tothe petition against Slavery in the Districtof Columbia from the Public Documentsof Congress for the year 1837. Mr. Reynolds stands here reccfrded in favor of theGAG- RULE which was afterwards revived by Mr. Atherton. To lay such a petition on the table without referring it ton Committee for a respectful consideration,was virtually applying the gag to the petitioners. Judge Reynolds here standsopposed to the abolition of slavery in theDistrict of Columbia, and a Coworkerwith the South, in the perpetuation ofSlavery!
