M., made a hole in one on the number 4 hole of the local golf course. He says that he wants it to be known that this was no accident and that it took the utmost sil] to accomplish this feat. Everyone seems willing to give him credit for having this skill but there is a question. He and his wife were playing alone’ and this leaves a few statements that he made open to doubt. However, he says that his feat of skill was witnessed by Jim and Phyllis McCutchan who were playing on the green close by. They haven't been contacted as yet but I sin cerely hope that they will back Pete up in his claims. On Tuesday Oct. 27th, the Lordsburg Golf Club was host to the Tri-City monthly Chamber of Commerce tournament. The Safford delegation failed to show up but a six man team came over from Willcox. Sixteen players turned out from Lords burg and a good time was had by all. Mac Raydél served a de licious fried chicken dinner and everyone agreed that this was one of the better tournaments. Ben Cochran “did Lordsburg proud” by winning Low gross and low net score for Lords burg and, also, low net score for the field. On Thursday Oct, 29th, will be the meeting of the S.W.N.M Resource and Conservation De velopment Steering Committee meeting at the Club in the morn ing followed by a buffet lunche on for the committee members and invited guests and then the dedication ceremonies for the Club at about 1:15 pm.
