The program consisted of group singing Jed by John Nylund and Woodrow Anderson, devotional readings by Leora Loring, piano solo by Mavis Freed, “Sweet Sue” by boys’ quartet, “Mexicali Rose” and “Misty Islands” by girls’ quartet, a cornet, duet by Lenora Isaacson and Paul Albro, and announcements by several teachers.MILLER SPEAKS TO HI-YON WORLD BROTHERHOOD— -f-“Creating World Brotherhood”was the subject of Supt. F. L. Mill’s informational talk at the Hi-Ymeeting, Oct. 28. Bill Reece and LeRoy Nelson gave a report on the recent Hi-Y Conference at Concordia which they attended. Andy Thompson, the World Brotherhood Chairman, had charge of the meeting. Songs were sung by the group.GRADE STUDENTS USE NEWTABLES TO LEARN PIANO --Two new tables have been made for the piano class that Miss Furry is teaching. Cardboard keyboards are placed upon these tables and the pupils play upon them while one per^ son plays the piano.Thirty students are enrolled, andPEP ASSEMBLY IS HELD- TO AROUSE INTERESTTo create enthusiasm a yell contest among the freshman, sophomore, junior, and classes was themain feature of the pep chapel, held Friday, October 16, preceding the game with Republic. Each class yelL ed “Yea, blue! Yea, white!” two times. The treasurers of the junior and senior clesses were each awarded a prize for giving the best yells. The contest Was judged by Miss Nich-ol and Mr. Miller.Following this Mr.v Miller gave a short explanation of the different rules of football.Preceding the contest each pepgirl recited a poem about one of theplayer's or coaches. The studentbody and pep girls also sang “Oh,dear S. H. S.”, “Hep, Rep, hep”, andgave yells. -SWANSON AND HARDTARFER PREPARE WEEKLY CHAPEL-4--Wednesday, October 7, Miss Swanson and Mr. Hardtarfer had charge of the assembly exercises in the study hall. Frances Cooper .played a piano solo entitled “Good Night”. Herb Johnson played a trombone solo, “Bells of St. Mary’s”. Mildred Johnson gave a reading entitled, “Now Folks”, Lenora Isaacson, then gave a cornet solo entitled “To A Wild Rose”.
