IT’S PROFITABLE — PHONE 25161 AUTOMOTIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS A three-year penitentiary sent ence was assessed by Judge Jesse S. Heard in Fourth District court here yesterday. Joseph Resinier, charged with theft of an outboard motor valued at $375, drew the three-year peni tentiary sentence after changing his plea to guilty. He had jumped hand on a previous court-ordered appearance Virginia Wyatt, 24, was given a jail sentence of 15 months on a charge of stealing merchandise valued at $47.16 from a local de partment store and an additional six months in jail on a charge of writing worthless checks in the amount of $13.22 Other sentenced included; Otis F. Moore, who pleaded guil ty to criminal neglect of his fam ily and was given a six months jail sentence and placed on proba tion. He said that he would con tribute to the support of his two children and terms of the pro bation included the payment of $25 weekly by him Huey Cotton, Negro, waived for mal arraignment and pleaded guil ty through his attorney to a charge of theft of $13 and following an expanation of the circumstances by the district attorney was given a six-month jail sentence that was suspended A second charge against him for simple robbery was nolle pressed. A one - year jail sentence was given to R. T. Williams, Negro, who changed his plea to guilty on a charge of simple robbery. Two others implicated if the crime had previously received sim ilar sentences. The sentence ran from the date of incarceration. No vember 7 was the trial date set for Williams on another charge, that of public intimidation, when he pleaded not guilty. Trials set for those in jail on felony charges included that of court offices as a field trip to a study of government. A pretty brunette, Mrs. Wyatt, 24, was sentenced to 15 months in jail and six months in jail, respec tively, on two charges, theft of merchandise valued at $47.16 and writing worthless checks valued a $13.22. The case had been remand ed for a pre- sentence investiga tion. Maurice J. Laird, accused of three counts of simple burglary and theft of an automobile valued at $1,000. Trial was set for Nov. 25 Misdemeanors, in jail, to be ar raigned included: Opal Rose Danz, charged with vagrancey, pleaded not guilty, trial set for Dec. 9; Bill Rogers, Ne gro, guilty to driving without 2 chauffeurs license, fined $25 and costs, default 25 days; and Ev erett Bains guilty, disturbing the peace, $25 and costs, or 25 days. Misdemeanors, on bond, who pleaded guilty, included: Pete Mus ic, disturbing the peace, $25 and costs, or 25 days; James C. Snell, speeding, $50 costs or 50 days; Raymond G. Wiggins, reckless driving, $30 and costs or 30 days; Joan Lee Williams, driving while intoxicated, $300 and costs of 9 days and Charles B. Brown, driv ing without a chauffeur's license, $25 and costs or 25 have Walter Mitchell, Negro, also on bond, changed his plea to guilty to theft of wagon lines and corn shelter valued at $15 and was giv en a six - months - jail sentence and placed on probation. Misdemeanors of those on hand who pleaded not guilty and was set for trial include the following: Clarence FE. Christy, reckless driving, Dec. 2; Roberta Gilmore, reckless driving in the same inci dent, Dec. 2; Ida Green, Negro, reckless driving, Dec. 2; Ruth L. Greer, theft of $11.17, Dec. 2; Lee ®. Provan, reckless driving, Dec. 2; and Lawrence A. Shoemaker, reckless driving, Dec. 9; Albert F. Welch of Sarasota, Fla., charged with driving while intoxicated, was called on his bond when he did not appear. A short recess was taken about 10:30 before resuming with the cases set for trial. Among those docketed for trial included that of Bobby Gene Bolllot, charged with four counts of theft. Gladys Ann Watson, Negro, waived arraignment and pleaded guilty to issuing a worthless check for $21.80. She was given a six month jail sentence which was suspended. Her attorney and re storation of the theft had been made. The case of Florence D. Hud son, Negro, was remanded for sen tencing until Monday, when her attorney entered a plea of guilty to obtaining welfare assistance by fraud. Joseph Brown, Negro, changed his plea to guilty on two charges of simple burglary and the sen tence was remanded for a pre sentence investigation. Felonies set for trial included that of Lannie Dortch, who was pre sent in court and is charged with armed robbery. Trial was set for November 21 He was charged with armed robbery of a Monroe poker game earlier this year, In which several thousand dollars were taken. Felonies, cases on bond, set for trial included; Evans Arthur, Negro, charged with attempted simple rape, court appointed an attorney, Nov. 22; Charles Ray Russell, armed rob bery, Nov. 21; Frank Adams, Ne gro, two counts of simple bur glary, both Nov. 22; Rosa Lee Cof fey, Negro, receiving stolen prop erty valued at $57.75, Nov. 22; Cle thell Shaw, Negro, receiving stol en property valued at $469.52, Nov. 22; Claude Britton, theft of a tire valued at $20.40, not present but case was set for Nov. 25; Marvin O. Hamilton, theft of two calculat ors valued at $800, Nov. 10; West Monroe Freeman, simple burglary, Nov. 25, and Shelton Averitt, theft of coffee valued at $85.06, Nov. 23. Others in this category included James Brock Wright, Negro, charged with three counts of at tempted murder, all set for Nov. 25 and Thelma Henderson, Negro woman, also charged with at tempted murder, set for Nov. 23. Police said bank em ployees reported Fauth was fired by the bank the day before because “his attitude was not serious enough.” Witnesses said he apparently directed the plane right through a large window (rear right).
