The 111011 are also defendants in a damage suit brought by Kenney to recover $25,000. Those to arrive are Frank Dune.. Frank Churchill, Charles Harper, A. K. Young and Sam Wagner.The Lake creek hanging bee, as the ease is known, took place September i t 1007. Kenney had homesteaded seme laud, and the allegations are that the defendants named in the foregoing, and three others, Ed. Cone, I). McManus and T. I. Ellixson. were desirous of running Kenney out of the country. Accordingly, Cone declared that In* had heen robbed of gold dust valued at $2,000, and Kenney was aeeuset of the theft. The defendants organized themselves into a vigilance committee and personally charged Kenney with the crime.Kenney made st renousdenial of a 113* wrongful net, and after being threatened. to no purpose, was placed upon a bo\ and a rope was noosed around his neck This, too, had no purpose, other than to emphasize Kenney’s denials, and some of the party kicked is I the box from under the trussed up \ mail.
