Schneider To Present LectureOn Effect Of Climatic ChangeAtmospheric Research in Boul-Dr. Stephen Schneider, renowned climatologist, will deliver a public lecture on “The Vulnerability of Modern Society to Climatic Change, on Monday, October 31, at 8:00 p.m. in Bowen Auditorium,Schneider received his bachelor of science and master degrees from Columbia University in 1966 and 1967, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and plasma physics from Columbia in 1971.Schneider is presently deputy head and scientist of the Climate Project at the National Center forMany students agreed with Michael Russell who said, “I’m curious to know why students didn’t know about this in May.’’ Dr. Kenneth Mott, from the Faculty Executive Committee, answered that “we traditionally have not consulted with students on policies precisely because it is a complicated process,”Tim Johnson said that “the decision was made without us knowing anything about it.” Dean Williams explained that “there were students present at both faculty meetings in which this was discussed.”Nancy Krone suggested that “there is one factor that hasn’t been considered yet. He has also written numerous reports and articles for both scientific journals and newspapers.Schneider is recognized among American Men and Women of Science, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the West, and Contemporary Authors.Schneider’s lecture is the seventh in a series of ten public lectures sponsored by the 1977 Senior Scholars Seminar.
