“Cattle Qu«»n In Jail.mBy a strange combination of circumstances, Emma Casteel, known as the “Cattle queen of Otero county,” is a guest at the county bastile of Pueblo county for twenty-four hours, and in addition, will be compelled to pay a fine of $25 and the costs of the suit brought against her on the charge of enclosing government land., Jj • A 19District Attorney Cranston informed the court that the state land board was responsible for the information that led to the offense. It was impossible to let the woman off without paying a penalty of some sort, so she was given the very lightest sentence that could be given her—imprisonment in the county jail for one day and payment of a fine of $25 and costs.Mrs. Casteel, who owns a big cattle ranch ten miles north of La Junta, did not seem greatly concerned* at the thought of incarceration in jail for a day, and will begin her sen tan ce some time this after noon.— Pueblo Star-Joumal.
