An Old Pioneer Gone.Magdalena Lavengood, (nee) Bruce, daughter of Stephen and Mary Bruce, was born-m Union Co Pennsylvania, Jan. 23, 1828. She* came with her parents to Pulton, county, Indiana, in 1837. when she was but 9 years old, where she resided until death,In 184J she was married to Isaac Hudkius, which union was blessed with three children; all having pre-ceeded their mother to the spirit world- She was again married Feb. 3, 1861 to Frederick Lavengood. To this union was born 4 sons and .2 daughters; one-son having preceed-ed his .mother to the next world. The husband, three sons, 'two daughters and six grandchildren are left to mourn the loss.of a kind companion, a loving mother, and a dear grandmother. She fell asleep in Jesus at her home at Bruce Lake station, Get. 22, .1898, aged ,70 years 8 mouths and 29 days.Mother Lavengood ’ belonged to an old pioneer family of which Mr. Joseph Bruce is the-only surviving member.II Mother Lavengood united with the Evangelical Association in 1857 ■ and lived a devoted chistian life to: the end, Her last woids were: ‘;Mv4 +pillow is soft. I am going hpme. ”• And wuen no longer able to speak, a smile was visible on her face. She , will be missed by all who knew her.’ The funeral took place at the Bruce Lake Reformed church and cemetry. Oct. 24, 1898, the Rev. E. i E. Myers, of Kewauuu, officiating.►
