at that tune 111 Georgetown, viz.MRS. SARAH SESSIONS.Of her early history and surround* ings nothing is known to the writer. But as the energetic keeper and manager of the principal hotel in the place, she was well known to the community. She was of large pioportions a little past middle age—and her whole manner betokened one who was accustomed to command and fully expected to be obeyed by those who were under her control. Honest and sincere herself, she expected the same virtues in those with whom she associated. But her heait was tender and sympathising with all those who stood in need of hot compassion or friendship. In early life she had passed through some of the trying sceues of persecution incident to the early introduction ofMethodism into Georgetown. Shewas familiar with the rude treatment which Asbury, Wayne ami others had received at the hands of the ungodly throng who conceived that they were doing God service and assertiug their manhood by abusing aud insultingthese errly pioneers of Methodism in this place. She helped to rescue (as we understood it) one of these early ministers from the hands of a mob,who were proceeding to commit some act of violence on his person. She was the Sister Cooglcr ot Georgetown. Trained up in these scenes of clangerand threatened voilence, she had become the courageous delender of Methodism in the persons of its earlier apostles. She allowed no oue in her presence to traduce the character or revile the mamory of the men of God who had plauled tht seeds of Methodism in the good old town in which she had spent all her life. Het seat was never vacant in the house of God when she was able to be present, audin the hour of sickness, her sympathyand aid ware extended to all suffering humanity. Such aud much more was our venerable and kind hearted old friend, Sister Sarah Sessions.
