News and Observer, 23rd: Lastnight at the annual meeting of the North Carolina Agricultural Society, Mr. Ashley Horne, of Johnston, was unanimously elected president, upon Mr. J. A. Long declining to accept a third term. Secretary Joseph E. Pogue and Treasurer Claude B. Denson were both re-elected unanimously. The present vice-presidents were re-elected.It was decided, upon resolution of Mr. R. H. Battle for Mr. Long, to appoint a committee of ten to look into the question of immigration into the State.The trustees of the Peabody Educational Fund have ^ acted wisely, in our opinion, in determining that hereafter the income will be devoted to supplying the practical needs of the rural schools in the South, rather than to holding Teachers’ Insti-ic oKahi 40 1 An AAA
