Editor: Dave Bennett’s article on Coach Jim Shofner in the Skiff, (Friday, October 15), seemed to be a well written assessment of the situation, but it contained one statement which concerned me. The Frog Club was pictured as taking an active stand on calling for Coach Shofner’s resignation. I suspect that Mr. Bennett in terviewed several TCU sup porters who were also members of the Frog Club and took their views as an official position of the club. The Frog Club is a booster organization for the total athletic program at the University who’s primary function is to raise funds for athletic scholarships at TCU. To my knowledge, the club has never taken an official stand on athletic personnel and had certainly not done so this year. In the light of our present football record, I’m sure Coach Shofner would agree that the support of The Frog Club has _ been phenomenal. Our 76-77 fund drive is the most successful in the history of the club, and _at tendance at our Monday noon luncheons at Colonial Jetton’s has averaged over 120 weekly. Please extend my personal invitation to Dave Bennett to be my guest at next Monday’s luncheon so he may see for himself the positive role that The Frog Club plays in the total athletic program at TCU.
