These rill be screened by Mr. Manning and lis staff fpr the purpose of deleting iny which exhibit inferior technical laulity or content. Robert Nelson will show Confessions of a Black Mother Succuba, a satire upon advertising’s sexual sell, and Nelson’s interpretation, of how the housewives who see these ads react. George Kuchar will show his world:famous Hold While I'm Naked. The easiest. way to describe this film is to say that it is a very direct and subtle look at sexual frustration and lonli-n^ss.,These are only a few of the professional films that the audience will have the chance to see. The National Film Board of Canada, one of the -world’s largest independent-, film-mak- ‘ ing groups, will present films bv several of their men, including Norman McLaren’s famous experimental 'scratch9 films, made by painting and scratching directly on the film. These films, which are produced by real professionals in the experimental field will* offer a good comparison to the competing works, i The importance of the men who will be the judges must be stressed. They represent the whole range of experimental and independent cinema now being producgd^iu America. John Tyo is a man who knows films. He is an experimenter, a teacher of great fame, a well known critic. Nelso and Kuchar are leaders in the active world of film production. They are film-makers who know their /trade well. Josef Reeve is both a film-maker and director, whose films have j been shown all over the world. This week The Hill News features a photospread containing shots from many of the competing films. This ^series will be concluded with com-jments upon experimental cinema and how, to derive the most from it. Correction must be made of a glaring error from last week.
