Police NewsttA fight, interspersed with profanity, which lasted from the original “arena” (a place in East Town) and most of the way to the local lock-up in the rear seat of a police car, proved costly for the participants, Flora Mae Larry and Emma Lee Williams, both of East TowilFlora Mae Larry was fined $30 with an alternative of three days in jail while Emma Lee Williams was fine'd $15. In imposing the sentence on the Larry woman, Mayor Heaton issued the warning that any future offense on her part woud be turned over to County authorities for action. Police records show previous arrests in her case, including one during the current year.r.“I dislike fining people,” Mayor Heaton stated “because money is too hard to earn — too hard to get. The only reason for fines is to try and stop repeated offenses.MThe city accepted a promissory note, payable next Monday, and released Flora Larry from cus tody.
