Flynn, son of Mrs. Willard Charlton of Buhl, reported killed in action in the Philippines,An Army- radio technician, Flynn served with headquarters squadron, 19th battalion, Clark field, when it was destroyed by Japanese forces early in 1942.A graduate in 1938 of Buhl high school, Flynn had been a student at the Albion state normal school and at the Mohler school of harboring in Salt Lake City, before enlisting In the Army In 1940, He sailed for the Philippines on Oct, 4, 1941, after training at Glendale, Calif,, and landed at Manila Nov, 19, 1941,Following the Japanese attack on Clark field in December, his mother received a cablegram from him flaying that he was all right and not to worry.The war department In August, 1942, repyted that he had been wounded In action in May, and on Oct. 10, 1845, more than three years later, the war department advised that he had been killed in action.
