His parents were James \V. and Sarah Smith Boggan and he lived all of his life in An non county. He was married May 20th, 1868 to Mary lA.i Hammond, daughter of Hampton It. Hammond and she survives him together with the following sons and daughters: Mrs. E. T. Huntley. Miss. Nora J. and Lavlnln Boggan of An son county. Mrs. 8. It. Moore of \b-bevllle, S. 0., Miss Mary K. Boggan of Hackensack. N. J.. Miss Eva Louis Boggan of New York City. Messrs Hampton If. and James W, Boggan of Anson county. He was a brother to Ex-Sheriff J. A. Boggan of ftii* county and Mrs. Sarah Kendall of Richmond. Va.Captaltl Boggan offered his services during the civil war and « r-made captain of the home guards He was a kind-hearted man. a good citizen and leaves a host or friend who mourn his death.Captain Boggan was a farmer and owned considerable real estate in the county. The funeral was conducted from the home by Rev. S. M. Hanfl. and Interment at Bennett cemetery two miles north of Wadesboro. A large number of friends and relatives from all parts of the county attended the services.
