Sudden Death of John Bauman, or community was shocked this afternoon by news of the sud den death of John Bauman, which occured at 2 o’clock, at his resi dence on the north side. He had been sick about two weeks from congestion of the lungs, but was steadily improving and yesterday was able to be up and dressed. He seemed to be better today and was sitting up in bed about 2 o'clock, when the summons came. His daughter Lettie was with him at the time and was about to give him medicine when he said he felt queer” and expired in a few minutes, before the doctor could reach the home. His lungs and heart had troubled him many times since his service in the war of the rebellion, and it was from sick ness contracted in the service of his country that intimately caused his death. John Bauman has resided in this city during the past seven years and was respected by everybody for his quiet and genial ways and upright onapproachable character. He was 63 years of age, and be sides a devoted and affectionate wife he leaves a model family of four daughters and two sons, one daughter residing in Hawarden, Iowa, two at home, and Mrs. C. I. Hoffmann living in this city. The youngest son, Dan, is attend ing school here while Will, the elder, is thought to be on his way to Australia, having left for that country about 2 month ago.
