Pitcher, Galvin and Ed Morris, of the Pittsburg club, favor the introduction of trick pitching as it existed several years ago. Morris thinks that the rule compelling the pitcher to hold the ball momentarily in view of the batsman should be done away with, and that the twirler be allowed to start the ball from any position. Bligh, the Brooklyn whom the Cincin nati club signedly as catcher, has finally been put into catch, and may make a success. His throwing to bases is strong and accurate, and he bats wall. Tom Loftus, of the Cleveland club, is on the outlook for new outfielders. Young George Keefe, the pitcher of the Washington club, continues to twirl the ball effectively. He evidently takes after his great namesake. For a youngster he is a wonder. Hamilton, of the Cowboys, is a great Sprinter. He gets to first base quicker than any other player in the business. One of the rumors that is now flying around St. Louis is that Von der Ahe and Stern are going into partnership and put a strong club in the League from Cincinnati and a fairly strong club in the Association in the Missouri city. The story goes that Com iskey, McPhee and Latham will form the League club nucleus in Cincinnati and that King will be one of the pitchers. Mr. Stern denies the story and all Von der Ahe says is that he will not go into the League. Spalding ascribes the loss of the champion ship this year to the ups and downs of the Ho's of the opinion that there will be no Consolidated league next season, but that matters will go on as at present. It is said that Williamson and Burns may not be members of the Chicago team next season. The indications have pointed in that direction for some time outst. President Young, of the League, thinks the only posible method of increasing the bat ting without disturbing things too much is to move the pitcher back five feet. The Chicago League team has purchased Hutchinson, pitcher of the Des Moines (Ia.) nine.
