Osborne pres us the particulars of a robbery committed Thursday. ] October 17th. down in Rough Ready l: township, as well as the subsequent adventures of the robbers* one of whom J received very rough treatment at the j hands of a party of Chinamen. Three * Mexican robbers went into a white i man's cabin. Thursday afternoon, on the road between the Anthony House 5 and Oague’s Deer creek crossing, and from the cabin they stole §30 in money 1 and a pistol. Encouraged with their v success, the rascals went down the * creek, where they found a companv of’ \ Chinamen at work, and they tried their ; hands at robbing the Celestials. The j latter made an excellent fight, ran two t of the scoundrels off and caj tured the } third one. Not being satisfied with --simply securing the fellow, the China- 1* men proceeded to give him a splendid ;; drubbing. They used clubs, bowlders. *and such other weapons as w ere conve- I nient, and they pounded his head until [ it was a more hideous object than the 5 caput of Jones after McCocIe’s work r on the latter. The Chinamen then found old man Oague, procured a horse, “ on which they put the db figured Mex- i ican, and lashed him, and started for the Anthony House. When Osborne saw the procession on the road to the Anthony House, Oague was leading the ! w ounded Mexican, and about fifty Chi- : namen were following the head of the ?, L.procession, while one of them had a t cocked and loaded gun readv for use in_ - , tcase the Greaser attempted to escape.
