Findlay High’s junior varsity raised with 14 points in the final quarter to win its first game of the season, 20-8, over Marion Harding in Donnell Stadium Saturday. Jeff Essinger galloped two yards early in the final stanza to give the Trojans, 1 4- 1, the lead for good 12-8. Tim Seek gave the Trojans a 6-0 lead in the second quarter on a two yard fumble while a bad snap, which resulted in a Safety, out of the end zone and Bill Eckert’s 60-yard kickoff return capped the FHS scoring. Seek led the Findlay rushers with 83 yards in 17 carries while Todd Van Gunten had 30 yards in seven runs, Tim Yoder 12 in six runs and Essinger 11 in four runs. Yoder completed 4 of 6 passes for 53 yards, including three for 36 yards to Randy Smaltz. Findlay had 138 yards rushing while Marion had 47 yards on the ground and 111 passing on 10-20 completions. Randy Ray had an interception for FHS. Dan Eaton led the Blue and Gold defense with 11 tackles while Wayne Eaton had 10, Steve Linhart seven and Walter Schramm five. Findlay ends its season at 10 a.m. Saturday in Donnell Stadium against Sandusky.
