They discussed plans for the bazaar and the roll call con sisted of an item for the bazaar. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Anne Sigurdson (formerly Mrs. Mae Bateman) who were married in ‘Swan River at the United Church on Saturday, October 13. Loretta Zurba, who spent the sum mer holidays at her home in Crest view district, returned to Oshawa, Ontario to continue her studies at a high school Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. bp. Sleeman on the birth of a daugh ter on October 15. Lawrence Sterma has gone to Toronto and will be staying at the home of his sister Mrs. S. Wozniak. BIRCH RIVER (Mrs. B. Parham) Congratulations to Miss Louise Linklater who was the winner of the largest jack pat at the Legion bingo, and to Mrs. Ken Davy, who won the other one. R. Barrow of Thompson is spend ing a few days at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Barrow, ‘Sorry to report that Mrs. B. Mer ritt is a patient in the hospital. We hope she will soon be able to return home. Mr. G. McEwen of Thompson is visiting ‘with his family for two] weeks. We are glad to report that Mrs. G. McFadyen is home again from the hospital in Winnipeg. Mrs. Zorn Sr., of Saskatchewan, who has been visiting with her son a nd daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Zorn, returned to her home re cently Sympathy of the community is extended to the Linklater family in the loss of their father, Mr. G. Wellman returned from Winnipeg where they had spent holiday and are sporting. new A successful bake and jumble sale was held on October 20th in the Anglican church on Monday, Octo- Won. J. McMahon Sr.,_T. Smith, I. Green and C. Alderson were hostesses at a double birthday party on Monday, October 15 at the home of Mrs. S. W. Bates, in honor of Mrs. S. W. Bates and Mrs. J. Parham. They were each presented with a lovely gift and cakes, Lunch lag served later which brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. ‘The monthly meeting of the Hos pital Auxiliary was held October 17 In the hospital with nine members answering the roll call of a hint on how to store winter vegetables.. Lunch was served by hostesses Mrs. Burlington and Mrs. Bradford. A quarter-mile long parade was the most eye-catching scene at 12:00 noon, ‘Thursday. The executive, seated in a red convertible, followed by several noisy band members and 125 students paraded down the main street. A Speech was made by the president Miss Louanne Kitch, who introduced the secretary Miss Roberta Basarab and the treasurer Miss Leona Truhn. The vice-presi dent, Mr. Bruce Burlington, was ab sent for the day. A successful part enjoyed by all, was held in the after noon where the initiates became ac quainted with the school activities Congratulations to the ‘combined Birch River and Bowsman football team who are the champions of the Swan River Valley. The Pas football team were the Visitors of the Birch River collegiate b on October 8. Birch River—Bows man were the winning team. Lunch nd drinks were served in the small studitorium for the players. ‘A number of relatives and friends’ gathered “at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Prank Hurren of Birch River on October 14th to congratulate their daughter ‘Eileen on her successful completion of her’ three years, of in the Misericordia School of Nurs ing, in Winnipeg, and 10 wish her well in the new position with the Health Unit in the Swan River area Mrs. Bill Parker presented her with a lovely gift as a token of the best Wishes of all, to which Eileen ex pressed her thanks in a few we Chosen words, Mr. and Mrs. Hurren find Eileen expressed their heartfelt thanks to those who kindly helped Mrs. Hurren was unable to get around, and also to the folks for coming and making such an en joyable afternoon. A lovely lunch was served and everyone was able to leave in time to attend evening services
