Rainy weather slowed the work on the new highway park on San Felipe Creek during the last two days and Friday only 18 men were at work on the project. Between 30 and 40 men are employed during good weather. Six men were at work Friday on the crescent shaped lily pond in the west end of the park. They were employed on rock work, out lining the pond with native rocks. Work on Pond These rocks are obtained from the San Pedro Creek vicinity. Three men were working Friday on the creek, digging the rocks and lean ing them on the two trucks that are used to haul them to the park site. Five of the men were engaged on the foot bridge over the east fork of the creek. This little bridge is of concrete, and the center of the arch was to be poured Friday after noon. The foot bridge, after the con crete has set, will be treated with an acid that will eat away a thin layer of the concrete and expose the pebbles, giving a look of age. This treatment has not been used in this section of the country in bridge building, it was pointed out Friday, and will give the foot bridge a much more attractive ap pearance than the customary smooth surface finishing. Foremen Busy Two foremen were busy directing the work at the park Friday, bring ing the total number of workers up to 18. The rock crusher, at work in the east area of the park in the old quarry, has not been at work for the last two days. It was believed, however, that by Saturday work on the crusher will be resumed if no more rain falls. The crusher is preparing the rock for walks that have been laid out in the park. The cleared portion of the quarry, which is being en larged by the crusher operations, will be made into a sunken garden when the necessary amount of crushed rock has been taken out for the walks. Tentative plans are to have two fountains installed at the edge of the park in order to furnish tour ists with San Felipe Springs water. It has been suggested that signs be placed along the highway near the city limits telling travelers that the water may be obtained at the highway park.
