The price is high in eompari son with former years of over production.—Tribune: Earl Miller of Estherville and a Miss Florence Dicklnson\Of Ake-X ley, Minn., will be married next week. Earl is weil known in Emmetsburg having worked in the newspaper offices here.The young man denies the charge. —Ed Hall, A. J. Penn and G. H. Woodhouse returned, the first of the week from their South Dakota hunting expedition. They had great sport and killed lots of ducks, geese and prairie chickens.—A- G. Metzger is having the first floor of his business building recently t vacated by F. E. Lamberton newly papered, painted and thoroughly renovated preparatory to being occupied by himself and F. H. Morison with a wholesale and retail stock of groceries* —Mrs. Tobey received a telegram yesterday noon from her daugter, Mrs. Rae, of Minneapolis, announcing that Mr. Rae was not expected to live, and to come at once. Mr. Rae moved from here to Minneapolis only a short time ago and while here was employed in the B. C. R. N. shops.—The Cox and Trousdale families discoursed sweet tnuBic on the streets Saturday night. There are five Cox and four Trousdale boys and all, together with Mr. Trousdale are excellent musicians. They can play most any kind of a musical instrument and make ’fine music on almost any old thing. They are musical wonders.—A special dispatch from Faribault, Minn., states that work of grading the new B. C. R. N. is steadily progress ing, hut the grading will probably not be finished by the time specified, Nov. 15, owing to the long spell of rainy weather last month. F. Wells visited his family a couple of days this week.—Warden Delevan arrested three fellows at CHtosen yesterdoy for seine-Ing in the Des Moines riyer east of that place. The men were fined $100 for their fun and the seine comflscated. They were from Bode.—If anyone believes the statements made by Carpenter, of the Democrat, that the B., C. R. N. shop men at this place are not working more hours a day than they were one month ago let them investigate for themselves and see who is the monumental liar of the town.—The M. St. L. began carrying mail over the line through Es-therville yesterday, the 24th. Mail will be carried on the day trains between St. Paul and Storm Lake and pouched mail on the night train between St. Paul and Estherville gratuitously by the railroad company until Nov. 5, after which the company will be paid by the government.E. D. Bucknam was a Chicago visitor last week.—The Trousdale entertainers will give an entertainment in Estherville, Tuesday evening, October 30. The play will be a farce comedy entitled “Which is Which” and is said to be one of the most amusing entertainments that has been in Estherville for a long time There will be many specialty acta the most interesting of which are the trained dogs. The Trousdale boys have been on the road four years. They have traveled extensively and played in many of the large cities and with great success. They have an excellent company, are good «*ctors themselves and worthy in every respect of the patronage of the people of Estherville, their home town There are eight players in the com pany, all of whom are very clever performers.L.
