A CITIZEN- of Willow Springs and a citizen of Lawrence met yesterday oh our streets. The city man said to the other, “Vote for Love. If Clarke is elected he will shut up all these joints, but Love will keep some of them open. He goes in now and takes his nip with the boys.” The Willow Springs man was not a Love man, ahd gave • the remark awav. Both are well-known citizens, and their names can both be furnished if the statement is doubted.A.monx; the most active and violent of the crowd who hung Pete Vinegar was Charley Thacher at that time local .editor of the Journal. . . He., is now, we believe in New York, but can Be reached by requisition if Clarke is elected sheriff. There is no statute of limitations on that act. The Journal is determined to drag this awful matter into this canvass, and the Record can accommodate it. It is in possession of a large number of portraits. -Citizens, when a circular is thrust in your faces by men who have had six weeks to deal with the questions of which it treats, and have not dared to invite discussion upon them, until no one can refute the false statements with which it teems, treat it with the contempt which itdeserves.
