Capt, Hill, of the first Virginia cavalry, stationed at Elisabeth, with forty of lib company * tart-ed iu pursuit of the rebel*. When nix miles bo yond Elisabeth, was fired into from the side of a hill, close to the road, by seventy-five rebel*. He returned the fire, completely routing thorn, killing twelve, wounding one, and uking five prisoners. Two of Capt i Hill's troop were wounded. 1On Frida? night, a force of £00 rebels '** w 1attacked Elian both, but were repulsed by ( Cap*. Hill, with the aid of a few Home iGuards; but little damage was dono oneither side. JOn Saturday night the retail robbed and ( burned Reveral house* at Burning Springs ‘ stealing a number of tioraos, etc. Capt. Hill was reinforced Sunday morning, by four companies of infantry from Wheeling, under command of Lieut. (Jot.
