DALLAS !A»i—An off-duty police sergeant was beaten yesterday in a fight that erupted between white and Negro men here. The disturbance followed a minor-two-ear accident that hailed a »\r ro fu n e vii 1 p ro cess i 011.The police sergeant. 40-year-old A. L. Curtis, had gone to investigate the accident when the fighting erupted.Deputy Police Chief Charles Batchelor said it was not a racial incident but one of those things that happen every now and then. Kc said it was regrettable this had to involve a funeral procession.Six Negroes were jailed following the incident.
