DEATH OFPIONEER[SPECIAL TO THE TIMES)CROWN POINT, Ind., Oct. 24.— The death of Peter J. Howkinson, one of Lake county’s pioneer farmers, occurred at his home at Cedar Lake on Oct. 23, from the infirmities of old age. Mr. Howkinson being- 85 years old at the time ofhis passing. Mr. Howkinsron built thefirst ice house at Palisley before the Mon on Railroad was built. He was the owner of several splendid farms around Cedar Lake. He was the father of County Councilman Martin Howkinson. He is also survived by his wife, Christene Howkinson and J. Harry Howkinson, Mrs. Ada Turnquist and Mrs. Florence Lin-quist, The funeral will be held at the home on Monday at one o’clock. Burial in Maplewood cemetery.
