Igeouge s. towle. democratic! CANDIDATE FOR ASSEMBLY.fastiersit ai Y.Westchester County Reporter.| George S. Towle, of tlie town of Majnaroneck, the Democratic caudi-, date for Assembly in the Second Dis-j trict of this county, is possessed of qualities and attainments which make his candidacy most fitting and which admirably equip him to become a most capable and satisfactory representative of this great district in our State Legislature. He is a 3*011 ng man of ability and of high standing personally and in his profession. He has clean-cut, forceful personality, and a spirit of self-reliance and independence that all legislators should have but few exhibit. He has always taken keen interest in public affairs, and is well-informed as to the needs and varied interests of this district. He has sound and correct views of public pol-He will do his dut3* as he sees, byisS:not as the bosses dictate—representing the people of the district rather than being a mere pawn upon the political chess-board.The blood of which he comes should be sufficient guarantee of the man. He is of that sturdy old Ilugenot stock which peopled the Sound shore towns, and which has contributed so many solid citizens of Westchester, eminent in the business, professional and public life of the county. His abilities and tine qualities are a direct and natural inheritance. Ilis father, Frank E. Towle, for over thirty years a resident of Larclimout, is a civil engineer and City Surveyor in the first rank of his profession in New York. His grandfather, Jeremiah Towle, was Park Commissioners and an Alderman of New York, in the first half of the last century, when the title of Alderman was one of distinction, when only the most solid citizens of the community attained that honor.(Jeorge S. Towle was born in ISbO, and has lived in Larclimout nearly all his life. He finished his schooling at the College of the City* of New York. As a youth, his first business experience was as olerk in the Twelfth Ward Bank, in Harlem, but he concluded to adopt his father’s profession, civil engineering. He has continued in business with his father, and has been- associated with him in the engineering work connecter with the construction of such buildings as the Metropolitan Museum of Arc the Postal Telegraph, the American Surety, the New York Life. Home Life, Dun and other such buildings.Mr. Towle has taken an active interest in public affairs in the town of Mainaroneek. and particularly in that Important adjunct of our village communities, the fire department. No one has done more to build up the Larcn-mont Fire Department than he. lie has been Assistant Chief of the department for two years, and was foreman ot Larchmont Hose Company for six years. On account of his prominence in fire department affairs, and because he has always been glad to render assistance at fires in neighboring towns, Mr. Towle is widely known in the towns and villages along the Sound, and is rightfully highly esteemed.Another thing that lias added to his acquaintance and personal popularity along the Sound is his prowess as a sailor, and the laurels lie has won in friendly7 yachting. contests. As a youth he was one of the crew of the famous c-atboat “Fairy” and aided in achieving the record of winning 95 out of 110 races .It is but natural that Mr. Towle’s sailor friends, like liis firemen friends, are rallying to his support, regardless of politics, in this campaign. Knowing him, they* know his sturdy7, sterling qualities of head and heart; and it should indeed be gratifying to him to know that the friends and admirers he has won in the past are now doing their best to forward his candidacy. It is pretty good proof of a candidate’s fitness for such an important office as Assemblyman, that the members of his own and neighboring communities are enthusiastic in his support—not enthusiastic in the “hurrah, boys” styde of approval of mere good fellowship—but with the warmth of support which solid and discerning men give one of their own kind because of their knowledge of his integrity and capability7, and because of their conviction that he will be the right man in the right pin ce.With his solid attainments and his knowledge of public affairs, George S. Towle will indeed be well equipped to represent this district at Albany: and his high character, clear-headed views and strong personality are assurance that he will be a resolute and independent representative of the real interests of the people of this principal district of sadly over-bossed Westchester.forDeidisiconlawof aec cou of :■itlie ; acti wit! him acti mol the con roalt; witl bussirgra.wiltjustSittwillandtliailieof iibeeclueCO UlResolutions of Condolence.Wherfmtprn iIn view of the loss our ms sustained hv the de-Htice to til publ by tl liam pren of X surpi madt the fi very what finesl know Islan everv of thi the si true his pi Islam knew who .«■ comes all kn impos Mr. fessor and C ion Ci is not and p Just ie for n recogi hones Mr. born i hood attenc Retur twelve where prescr gradm office and In his nai his al promii genera , lyn an v years 1 Island represe public confidt a very nation dation voters, interes high st cast thThe public* nomine “Pei better! in Bro His nei
