On the whole, however, the display was1 a very successful one and reflects credit alike on the exhibitors and the committee of mansgement.I here were two samples of flax present—one lot raised by the Rev. Mr. McCaualand, of Gooseberry Island, the other by Mr. Daily,of Topsail, Competent judges pronounce the rjuaHfy firstclass. The article^fally demonstrates that flax can be successfully railed in Newfoundland, who knows but it may yet do for us what its eisal pfant is doing for the Bahamas, if we can get a Sir Ambrose Shea to take an interest in its cultivation.
