Bhknton'h Rkki\—This isa dangt r-oiisreafon the coast of’ Rhode Bland, some miles easterly from Beaver Tail Bight, and North Hast from point Judith. There is, probably, no part of the roast from Newport eastward where a Bight ship would Be of more service to navigation than at this Reef; and we arc; glad to see some of our Citizen* waking from their long lathargic sleep, with reference to the importance of the subject, and bestirring themselves in a way that must ultimately result in securing to our coast the object desired. A petition will, we understand, he presented to the next lt;'ongress, asking an appropriation for a Bight fillip at the place referred to, with two lights, and otherwise properly provi* tied to assure tin; necessary protection to navigation. YVc shall take occasion to refer to this matter again, in future numbers of our paper ; but, in the mean time, we would suggest to our Commercial friends to he sure they are not found sleeping on their oars, until they have finally succeeded in accomplishing their object.
