\It.(tfttDisgraceful Affair.—We find the following in the New Albany Bulletin of Thursday:Mob at Attica.—The Crawfordsville Press learns of a very serious riot that took place in Attica, Fountain county, Indiana, recently.It appears that several boats having reached | I that place on the canal, the lock in the canal was closed at Attica to enable the boats to return to Lafayette. Cutting offthe supply of water displeased the Covington folks, whereupon a meeting was held and two or three hundred persons formed into a band, who, armed with pistols, knives and clubs, and headed bv \li A. H innegan, U. S. Senator, proceeded to Attica, and forcibly opened the lock. I Luring the affair, a young man named McDonald crossed the canal to where the Covington band were statione d, when be was instant ly struck u blow, (an informant suv*bv Man-J \ • •negan,) winch being quickly luiiowed by ablow from a club, knocked him over the bank into the canal. One of McDonald's friends j 1 in attempting to rescue linn, was knocked down, stabbed, and otherwise injured. At length McDonald was a ragged from the ca -jiab He revived, but is suffering severely from his wounds.
