IJacksonville, Fla., Oct. 23.—No official report has been received bv collector of customs 0. II. Ilisbee of the firing on and the capture of the alleged fubnn filibustering tugs Dauntless and R. L. Maby oil Jupiter inletWednesday bv the ( nited States• Vcruiser Raleigh. The revenue cutter lloutwell left Jacksonville for the St.Johns bar yesterday to take charge ofthe Dauntless and escort her to the quarantine station at Fernandina, where she is now been fumigated. She will afterwards be brought to this port 1 and deiieved to the United States au- ; thorities. The tug R. L. Mabey, ! C which was also captured, arrived at the bar yesterday in charge of a prize crewand will be brought to Jacksonville and delivered to the United Statesauthorities. The cauiser Raleigh left for the south yesterday. It is said sheVis going to Turtle harbor to discover if possible the island on which it is said the Cubans have stored quantities of arms and ammunition. The firing on and seizure of the Dauntless and Ma-bev has caused indignation here anti is regarded as high-handed on the rsart oi Captain Miller of tin; Raleigh. Neither the Dauntless nor the Maybe had arms onboard. The Dauntless had only her regular crew and the Maybe had on board a cargo of coal. The coal was possibly intended for the Dauntless, but she had a right to take on board fuel. It is not bettered that the government can do anything with either vessel. Col. Emilio Nunez, who hasmanaged many filibustering expeditions. and thirty Cubans returned to this city last night from New Smyrna.It was oil’ New Smvrna that, the Raleigh fired on and captured the Dauntless and Mahev.
