The Tea lluruius' at AnuapoMs.The city papers furnish full reports of the doings ou the occasion of the Centennial ( celebration, on Monday last, of the burning of the Peggy Stexcart in the harbor of Annapolis j on the 19th of October. 1774. It was celebrat- ’ ed in Baltimore by the ringing of bells at sunrise, noon and sunset, the display Hags, closing of schools and parade of the First Brigade M. ^ N. G., and by a general turn out of the popu- j lat'on in the afternoon. At Annapolis the an- |niversary was celebrated with much spirit.—A procession, headed by the Naval Academy band and Mayor Monroe, paraded the streets, j Addresses were delivered by Rev. C. K. Nelson, of St. John’s College, and Col J. ThomasSeharf, of Baltimore, and to crown all. a vessel was burned in the harbor. At night the ladies held a Centennial Tea Party in the Mary- ’ land Senate Chamber. Baltimore. ^ Washington, and other cities, in the costume ' of our great-grandmothers, a hundred years 1 ago, graced the fairy scene within the beatiti- , ful chamber. Some of the costumes would have led the observer to suppose the wearers. * but for the freshness of their youth and beauty, had stepped from the frames of many of the old ! family portraits 011 the walls of Annapolis j houses. Nearly all the tea party costumes in- . eluded Swiss caps with ribbons, Swiss muslin ; aprons and three-cornered shawls. None were ^ decollette, high corsage being the rule. The tea party was in every way a reunion worthy ^ of centennial memory.’’
