Extra# of a letter from Hartford, u We have been highly favoured here (thro’ mercy) in having generally efcapedthe contagiousPliiladelphiafever, confider-ing the many travellers from that city that were daily palling through from thence, and even fojourning here during the months of Augult and September. It is with much pleafure I can allure you that only three perlons in this city are certainly known to be down with the fo much dreaded yellow fever, viz. Melfrs. Hudfon and Goodwin, Editors of the Conneaicut Cot., ant, and a correfpondent of theirs, who dweileth a few doors diltant. All three of thefe poor gentlemen took the infeaion from a certain fouthern newfpaper, which th?y happened to peep into without previously fumigating their noftrils with hot vinegar and taking a dram of ftinkabus. They are frequently delirious, and it is remarkable, that in the paroxyfms of the fever they yelp exaclly like puppies ; often, in their frenzy, flapping at the Gazette that Was the innocent caufe of their calamity.
