Judge drops charges in murder caseSTOCKTON - A double murder charge against a Stockton man was dismissed in San Joaquin County Superior Court yesterday after the prosecuting attorney refused to identify a police informer involved in tt\e case.Judge Bill Dozier granted the dismissal of charges against Humphrey Kenneth Gascon after the district's attorney's office indicated disclosure of the informer would jeopardize future cases involving informers.The dismissal came “without prejudice, meaning the murder charges could be reinstated if additional evidence is discovered.Gascon was arrested Nov. 15,1973, for the murder of Roquel and Bonita Navales whose bodies were found a year earlier. Police arrested Gascon after reportedly receiving information from a secret informer.A first trial for the double slaying ended in a hung jury last November.
