Roth, a Male Pizole, Vi With Bell, Former CoraA1 Bell, who is a former radio comedian on “Melody Mad House” over WHO, visited AH again this year, with another intere*img program and movie. This year he told us about the Central American countries which he and Butch, his son, visited this summer.During the program he showed many interesting curios which he had collected on his trip. Clay figurines, a hat, woman’s scarf, a belt, a purse, a billfold, a mask, and many other colorful things were shown to the students.The most interesting thing was a jungle animal, Ruth, which was not the right name for it at all because It turned out to be a male, Ruth it a pi20te, supposedly a wild jungle animal. He is as playful as any cat or dog. He is black and has a long tail which stands as if it were starched, and his nose is long and pointed and sticks out beyond his mouth about an inch. It has a little knob on the end. Ruth was about three weeks old when Mr. Bell caught him in Nicaragua. He eats fruit of aikkinds, also lizards, and he especially likes gum. Mr. Bell rates Ruth as his most treasured souvenir- and his second most treasured one is a Lap knife which was made from a reindeer antler in 40 hours by a Lapland boy. Third is a clay figurine made by two Indian boys in Central America and fourth a papoose basket from Alaska.One of the special things he brought out in his talk was that people of Central America do not believe in doctors. When they are ill or meet with an accident, they buy a little pietfe, of silver which resembles the pan of the body which is affected. They place this before their Holy Virgin and pray that she will heal this part of the body. They also have witch doctors who wear ugly masks and pray to their gods for them.After showing us many curios and telling some very interesting stories of his visit to Central America he showed a movie of many interesting things which happened on his trip.Mr. Bell has been presenting programs such as this for the past three years.
