b Several Arrests Made Sunday By Police and Deputy Sheriffs. The campaign against blind tigers and bootleggers has been started in earnest by the police and sheriff, and Sunday night two arrests were made by the police and one by the sheriff's department. Deputy Sheriffs Lynch and Del champs yesterday afternoon about 4 o'clock arrested at Frank Farley’s Place, near Thomas precinct, in the south end of the county, Ollie Lartigue, a young white boy, on the charge of violating the prohibition law. The arrest was made on an indictment found by the grand jury that ad journed Saturday afternoon. Lartigue made bond for his appearance before Judge Semmes in the city court on Thursday, when this case will be set for hearing. Sunday night about 6:36 o'clock Laura Anderson, a white woman, giv ing her home as 53 Savannah street, was arrested by Detectives Lacey, Burch and Officer R. A. Lott and charged with selling liquor without a license. The officers state that the woman has had several men peddling liquor for her for some time. Four negroes arrested in the vicinity of Our Alley and Selma streets are held as witnesses. Late last night Officers John W. New and William Connelly arrested William Taylor, a negro, on the charge of selling liquor illegally. The officers state that they caught the man in the act of selling whiskey from a bottle. In the event of a conviction the officers making the arrests on Sun day will receive a reward of $50 from the Wholesale and Retail Liquor Deal ers’ Association, the union station. An immense throng had gathered there, understanding that he would en train at that point. Many efforts were made by passen gers to get back to see Colonel Roose velt, whose car was last on the train, but they were stopped by coarse.
