■ — - - — — — J * 'V It VHut to make one more personal mention of an one time De Lamar, family— On our way to Boise we went out of our way to pass the house of L. Smitcheger, who had saved up money enough working for the De Lamar company to buy him a 20-acre home for his family. On that VO acres Mr. Smitchger turned his energy chiefly to raising prunes, built an evaporator of his own and, last year, went to Chicago with 48,000 pounds raised and cured ou his little ranch. He got thfe top prices because of the care he had taken to make them a little nicer than others. We found him aud his wife and children all busy at the evaporator and several thousand pounds of uice, dried fruit hi the bins. His crop this year is beyound the capacity of his drier and he has beeu forced to sell many tons in the orchard.
