ORDI9ri5CE,Ordinance to increase the f a’ary or the • Health officer of the City of Savannah, and fix bis fees for boarding vessel* and, ibr giving accrtiQcate for health or permit to come to the city and discharge their loads, and for other purposes:*_ Whereas, from the increased commerce of the port or Savannah the duties of the Health Officer has greatly increasod, and the salary has not beou creased during the last thirty years:, Sec. 1. Be H ordained by tho Mayer and Aldor* men of tho City of Savannah and the Hamlets therein In Council as cmbicd, and it Is hereby ordained by tho authority or tho same, That from and after tuo pa3sogo of this Wrdlnanco the salary of the Health Officer bo at tho rate of five hundred dollars. • *See. 2. Re It further ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of the City of Savannah and the Hamlets thereof in Council assembled, and it Is heroby ordained by authority of the same, That the fees of tho Health Officer (which shall bo paid by the owner, master, or consignee of any vessel) shall ho as follows:For hoarding any vessel lying at tho quarantine ground, at Fort Jackson, two cents a ton up to 600 tons, beyond which * ne additional fee shall ho charged lit case of u. visit at night tho fees charged shall oo double the proceed ng; and all expenses Incurred for boarding any vessel shall be paid by tbcHealth Officer, except that tho city will furnlau a quarantine boat..*For visitingand Inspecting a vessel which has been subjected to quarantine, and giving a permit to come up to tho city, five dollars.* See. 3. Bo it fnrtnor ordained by tho authority aforesaid. That in cose it shall bo doomed necessary by tho Health Officer to sond a patient to too Pest House from tho vessel, it shall ho dono by tho vessel's bout, or at tho oxpenso of tho owner, master or consignee of such vessel, under a penally, in case of failure or refusal, of not exceeding ouo hundred dollars, to oo collected In the usual manner as prescribed b\* rrdiusnce.Passed in Council.
