O’Connor To Step Down November 3Dennis O’Connor’s two final acts as mayor of Oak Forest will come November 3 when he presides at two dedications. The first will be at 1 p.m. at the “smiley face” water tower in the Oak Forest Industrial park, 165th street and Interstate 57.Following the water tower program the dedication program will continue at the new fire department sub-station, 165th street and Cicero avenue. At the completion of the fire house dedication O’Connor will turn the keys to the mayor’s office and the mayor’s gavel over to Second ward alderman and acting mayor Martin Norville.O’Connor recently announced he is resigning as mayor and will move to California to accept a job as comptroller with a company in Santa Ana.Coffee, cake, and soft drinks will be served at the fire house following the dedication.
